Cleric. Human, Tethyrian
Father Jack was born on the western edge of Faerun. His was the third child and the second son of an impoverished aristocrat. As per the family tradition the eldest son inherits the estate, the second becomes a priest and the rest go to war or adventure. Jack always wanted to go to the adventure but obeyed to the family tradition. As smart as he was, he became a prodigy in the temple of Thor seminary. After graduating as the first in class, instead of going back to his father’s estate he stayed at the temple to study ancient runes and become a future elder of the temple.
However his restless nature led him to the inns and pubs where he secretly enjoyed spirits rather than spiritual learning, but also the company of women, gambling and illegal fights. As his gambling debt mounted over years he started charging fees for miracles, mostly helping the barren couples. The real problems started with rumors that many children born by his “miracles” looked very much like him.
The rumors grew into fury and the news eventually came to the temple. The High priest who ordained Jack and had high hopes in him, stripped him from his powers, took all the levels that Jack gained, and moreover made him look ugly and old. Jack had to swear on Thor’s statue that he would redeem himself by travelling the world, helping those in need and above all abstaining from women and drinking. He had to find the way to become lawful and live in humility. Jack was only going to return to his temple when Thor gives him a sign to do so. Then and only then the spell would be lifted and he would become his true self again, but better.
Off he went to his long journey, with firm resolution to fulfill his task. But his past was haunting him and often, for no reason, he’d shout obscene words or cry for drink. He had to find the worthy mission, one step on the road to his salvation.
