Sabriel was born the bastard daughter of a high noble elf father and his forbidden lover of a rival and sworn enemy noble family. In order to protect herself and her new born daughter, Sabriel’s mother took refuge in the temple of Ceres. Sabriel grew up with the priests, but at a young age it was obvious that she had a talent for healing. The priests of Ceres’ instructed her in the ways of healing, and when the god Mavros spoke to her, she left her mother and those that had raised her to serve him. As she grew, healing became the constant in her growing tumultuous life. Her father’s family had lost its last heir and wanted to use her in a political marriage that would gain them power and prestige. She continuously refused them focusing more on her healing, until her father’s family bribed the hierarchy of her temple. Given the choice of marriage, or heresy Sabriel fled her temple trusting that Mavros was watching over her, and that her path and gifts were needed else where. Sabriel was labeled a heretic, so long as she defied her father’s family and the marriage they willed on her. So now she travels, ever watchful for her father’s family spies, and assassins, but still offering healing and what aid she can give to those in need.
